This examination administering body (RRB) is a streamlined government agency that is set up under the Ministry of Railways. Presently, India has 19 functional Railway Boards that come with Railway job competitive examinations and openings every year.

It basically invites applicants under Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D. The first two, i.e. Group A and Group B, are gazetted job offers. The last two, i.e. Group C and Group D, offer non-gazetted job opportunities. 

The examination for Group A posts are conducted by the UPSC. The candidates go through the Civil Service Exam, Engineering Service Exam and Combined Medical Service Examination.

The Group D posts are introduced in various disciplines, such as Trackman, Helper, Assistant Points Man, Safaiwala/Safaiwala, Gunman, Peon etc.

Railway Selection Procedure:

But, the jobs stated under the Group A and Group B categories mandate the interview after their written examination. Apart from these, the same RRB launches metro railways jobs also in the metropolitan cities.
